Whilst flying to Maroochydore with my 20 month old son, I was charged $50 in excess baggage. I had one bag, one baby and a stroller and thought I was travelling efficiently with both our belongings in one bag so I could push the stroller and drag the wheely suitcase.
The check in attendant told me that my 31 kg bag was overweight limit regulations and that my baggage weight allocation was 20kg between us. I was also told that if my husband was travelling with us they would have overlooked the excess baggage and not charged me $50.
I have since written Jetstar a letter and am waiting to see if they respond to my complaint which I made on behalf of any parent travelling with a baby alone everywhere.
