“Lake Mountain … Amazing as always”
Your visit to the snow at Lake Mountain will help this beautiful area and its wonderful people recover from the Black Saturday bushfires.
Lake Mountain Alpine Resort is less than a 2 hour drive from most parts of Melbourne and less than an hour away from the Yarra Valley. For about the same cost as tickets to the football, you can take your family for a great memorable day out at the snow. Make sure you take your camera: the scenery is great and you will get some magical pictures of the kids going down a toboggan slope. After the easy but spectacular drive up from Marysville you get to step into a winter wonderland.
As Australia's premier cross-country skiing and snow play resort, Lake Mountain does provide a very affordable and fun day out. It is a winter playground. You can head down a toboggan slope, explore the trails on a set of skis or snow shoes, or just play in the snow … and everyone must make a snow man and throw some snowballs!
New: take a snowmobile for a drive as part of a guided tour - what a great experience! We now have the latest snow making equipment. Never skied before? Don’t worry, Lake Mountain's world-renowned ski school will get you into action in no time. There are a variety of toboggan slopes and huge snow play areas. There is something for everyone.
The visitor centre (which was untouched by the fire) has a licensed bistro and takeaway, retail shop, day shelter, the ski school and a full range of snow clothing, toboggans, and skis for hire. After a day exploring the trails or chasing the kids up and down the toboggan slopes, you will probably enjoy some hot food and a cup of coffee.
This year temporary buildings (such as day shelters, ski patrol and toilets) are replacing those lost in the fires
For those who want to make the most of the journey you can explore delights of the Yarra Valley or explore the Alexandra and Eildon district which is not far away. Those businesses and attractions remaining in Marysville badly need your support on the way home. The www.lakemountainresort.com.au website has a wealth of information so you can make the most of your visit to the mountains.
