This Snowy Mountains resort has plenty to offer both on and off the slopes. Home to Australia’s longest runs, a variety of terrain, big vertical and a buzzing village – along with year-long events – Thredbo is packed with excitement for the whole family. Friday Flat is a wonderful place for kids to learn in a safe environment, and when you need a break off the snow, head for the heated indoor pool at the Leisure Centre.
With the largest lift network in Victoria, Mt Buller has 22 lifts serving the varied terrain. This season will see the brand-new six-seater Bourke Street Express chair lift whisking skiers and riders up from the village making it quicker, and easier to access the creamy terrain up top. In other big news, Mt Buller is now part of the Mountain Collective!
Falls Creek has 450 hectares of skiable terrain making it the largest of any resort in Victoria. The runs are known as being ‘progression perfect’ allowing shredders to develop their skills in a timely fashion. Off the slopes, there is also a multitude of programs to keep kids happy including tobogganing, tubing and they can go with a parent on an amazing sunset snowmobile tour. Big news this year is that Falls Creek is now part of the Vail Resorts stable, accessible on the Epic Australia Pass.
The Southern Hemisphere’s largest alpine resort, Perisher sits within the picturesque Kosciuszko National Park in NSW. The varied terrain across the four resort areas caters for all ages and abilities making it a favourite ski and snowboarding destination for families. This season sees a brand new quad chairlift replacing the old Leichardt T-bar – an addition that will be very popular.
With family-friendly dining options, a Kids’ Snowzone and snow sports school, and Harry the Snowdragon, children are spoilt for choice at Mount Hotham. As the village sits on the ridge top, you actually ski down from there, rather than catching chairlifts up to start your ski day. That means great views of the sunrise and sunset from the big range of family-friendly accommodation. Big news this year is that Hotham is now part of the Vail Resorts stable, accessible on the Epic Australia Pass.
