Travellers departing London’s Heathrow Airport will face new passenger charges on all flights, to cover the impact of COVID-19.
As of January this year, the airport introduced a new passenger fee of £8.90 (A$15.90) for all flights, which they labelled ‘Airport Cost Recovery Charge’.
The purpose of the new passenger charge is to recover some of the losses caused by the pandemic. With COVID-19 causing a severe drop in passenger, the airport reported an annual loss of £2 billion.
