Qantas will make every seat in every cabin available for classic rewards frequent flyer redemption for the first three days of flights to New Zealand.
It’s good news for anyone who has saved up a load of Qantas points over the past year through shopping, credit card rewards and wine orders.
An economy class classic reward seat from Sydney to Auckland uses 18,000 points on Qantas. A classic reward seat from Sydney to Auckland, Wellington or Queenstown on Jetstar uses 14,400 points.
Qantas will operate 122 return flights to New Zealand each week including two new routes direct from Auckland to Cairns and the Gold Coast.
“Restarting flights to New Zealand is about more than starting to rebuild our international network, it’s about reconnecting families and friends and getting more of our people back flying again,” Qantas Domestic and International CEO, Andrew David said.
