Thredbo releases details for Winter 2022 ski season

Lift tickets for the Thredbo’s winter 2022 ski season are now on sale.

The Australian ski resort is expecting a bumper season as skiers and snowboarders are enthusiastically booking for this winter.

This winter there will be free events, Thredboland children’s programs, terrain parks and premier on-mountain dining experiences.

Thredbo was named number one in Australia in the Ski & Snowboard with Kids Best Family Ski Resorts Awards, and for good reason. It is an excellent place to learn thanks to the gentle and separate Friday Flat area (with six new snowmaking guns). Progression is easy as your little skiers and riders get better and can tackle slightly harder runs. Once they are into their stride, there are so many awesome intermediate and advanced runs that will see them wanting to return to Thredbo year after year.

Opening 11 June 2022

Thredbo is gearing up for a busy winter with some fun family events. There will be a Kids Snow Festival (1 – 17 July) with movie nights, special kids’ flare runs and night skiing. Kids under 18 can also sign up for the Torah Bright Mini Shred (9 July).

For the whole family, there are Saturday night fireworks, Sunrise Sessions and plenty of activities on and off the mountain.

The Sunrise Sessions on Tuesday mornings is open to intermediate and expert skiers. Head up to the top of Karel’s (Australia’s highest lifted point) to watch the sunrise, then go for breakfast at the Eagle’s Nest (Australia’s highest restaurant) before enjoying first tracks down the Supertrail (Australia’s longest run).

Parents will love Merritts Mountain Haus Feasts and the deluxe Kareela Hutte Dinners via snowcat. We recommend booking into Kareela Hütte while the kids are in ski school. The atmosphere is amazing in the gorgeous on-mountain hut. The European-inspired food is mouth-wateringly good and the accompanying drinks – schnapps, wine, champagne… you name it – make it a little harder to ski down afterwards.

Thredbo ski passes

Thredbo will continue to manage daily capacity and some peak season dates are expected to sell out.

Thredbo Day passes will cost from $179 for adults and $95 for kids in winter 2021. Season passes start at $1,359 for adults and $819 for kids.

Thredbo will offer four different types of season pass.

The Premium Season Pass and Premium Season Pass + Ikon Base Pass allows skiers and snowboarders to travel anytime. The Value Season pass excludes the 2 – 17 July July school holidays and the Midweek Value Season Parks excludes all weekends and the 2 – 17 July July school holidays.

Thredbo’s Premium Season Pass + Ikon Base Pass includes all the benefits of a Thredbo Premium Season Pass plus a 22/23 Ikon Base Pass. Giving you unlimited skiing for Thredbo’s 2022 winter, then access to 43 global destinations.

The season passes are great value if you do plan to ski or board more than eight days this winter.

Thredbo accommodation

The range of accommodation in the village is impressive. For example, The Thredbo Alpine Hotel is ideally located with the hotel ski room just across the bridge from the base and the gondola. As we all know, convenience is everything on the snow – especially when you have kids or teens and all the assorted paraphernalia that comes with them.
