These 5 pawfect Sydney hotels are pet-friendly

Hotels are finally recognising that man’s best friend deserves a break too. Holidays with Kids sent Ivy Carruth to check out the best pet-friendly hotels Sydney has to offer. 

Dogs are a family member. It can often feel incredibly strange to leave them behind when you book a holiday. Now, thanks to a boom in pet-ownership in 2020, you probably don’t have to.

Several Sydney hotels with world-envied views and first-class service now allow pets to stay. You can order room service, explore new streets, and never leave your best furr-iend behind again.

Here are five of the best pet-friendly hotels in Sydney.

Little Albion, Surry Hills

The Little Albion is a boutique jewel tucked into a hushed laneway moments away from Central Station.

Inside, Art Deco meets early 80’s finishes; soft edges, glowing brass, glossy green plants, and perfectly imperfect patinated marble. The hotel designed the ground floor rooms with pet–guests in mind. The rooms have outdoor access for taking care of business, and tile and wood floors for easy clean-ups.

Little Albion’s Plush Puppy Package ($995) includes a monogrammed collar and leash, a day of playcare, and a customised fitting for a new jumper and luxury dog bed.

Alternatively, doggos are welcome to skip the VIP treatment and simply enjoy their stay. The $50 pet fee includes doggie bed, bowls, and a welcome pack of treats. One dog per room, up to 15kg. 

Intercontinental Double Bay

This is Sydney pet-friendly hotel heaven. The Intercontinental even allows dogs into the rooftop pool area, so arrive early and drink in the view. 

We highly recommend a cheeky mini Moët from the vending machine. This IS Double Bay, after all.

It’s an easy stroll to the waterfront Steyne park where your pup can enjoy some off-leash exercise and the concierge can advise which surrounding cafes and restaurants welcome dogs.

The special in-room menu also caters for dogs. Banjo’s Delight ($26) tempted my sassy sausage, Thor, with Angus beef, carrots, pumpkin, and sweet potato.

The Intercontinental Pet Stay Package includes the use of a doggie bed and bowls and is $90 per night. One dog per room, no weight or breed restrictions. 

The Langham Sydney

It couldn’t paw-sibly get any more luxurious than the Langham, which has been welcoming pets since 2014.

Expect a personalised welcome and lavish interiors. The famous Langham pink is carried out through every detail of the pet-friendly hotel stay package, including a lovely embroidered bed and doggie bowls.

Pampered pets can experience the royal treatment with a delightful afternoon tea and a gift bag FULL of fantastic surprises. Puppichino, anyone?

Three hours of pet sitting is included if you wish, and of course, the breakfast in bed (yes, I said breakfast in bed(!) for you and your pup) is not to be missed.

Up to two pets per night per room with a limit of 20 kg per pet; a charge of $120 per night applies. Includes overnight valet parking. Someone even brought their bunny. 

QT Sydney

The QT Sydney brings its groovy vibe to the Pup Yeah! Package for those with a hankering for a city staycation.

Dogs are welcome to go pretty much anywhere in this pet friendly hotel as long as they’re leashed. Rooms have hardwood floors with tiled bathrooms and quirky colourful decor. Think chartreuse and fuchsia with light fixtures shaped like top hats.

Rooms come with bedding, bowls, and a poochie minibar. One fido per room (dogs only); maximum weight of 20kg. At check-in, a $150 cleaning fee will apply.  

Pier One, Sydney

Pier One is Sydney Harbour waterfront at its pet-friendliest.

You can book the Puppy Package at both the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House hotels. Pet-friendly rooms are carpet free, and with direct access right to the pier from your room.

Each pet-friendly hotel room has an outdoor seating area with table, umbrella, and raised patio. It’s so enchanting, you’ll be sad to say furr-well. 

Pier One is one of our favourite Sydney pet friendly hotels. It allows dogs to wander throughout the hotel, with the exception of the Gantry restaurant. You can take them onto the outdoor dining patio, and can even order their own pet degustation ($39). You may be tempted to sip on the slow-cooked high protein bone broth – it’s all human-grade (We won’t tell).

Pricing from $419 per night includes room, bed, bowls. No weight or breed limitations, up to two dogs per room.
