You can now be a part of a real-life Bear Grylls adventure at five NRMA Holiday Resorts. Kids can join the Bear Grylls Survival Academy’s Shipwrecked program. The action-packed four-part survival and adventure program teaches kids to light a campfire, how to tie knots, build a bush shelter and search for bushfoods like witchety grubs.
Based on the legendary adventures of Bear Grylls and operated by an elite team of survival experts, SHIPWRECKED aims to take kids out of their comfort zones with fun, challenging and interactive activities and obstacles surrounded by nature.
Take on four 60-minute survival missions, each operated by a team of survival experts. Each mission is completely supervised and aims to teach kids how to think like a true survivor, all while having fun and making new friends. Missions are run over weekends and every day during school holidays, with each mission costing $15 per child. The program is designed for kids aged 4 to 17 but parents to join the activities too.
Missions include:
Hide to Survive where kids will learn how to build a shelter for protection using building materials found in nature.
Get out Alive shows kids how to tie knots, cross difficult terrain and follow a trail using communication and teamwork.
Navigate the Island is about pacing, navigation and how to follow an orienteering course.
Feast in the Wild teaches fire lighting methods, cooking damper and learning the skill of throwing spears at targets
