NSW reveals who will get to attend the Sydney New Years Eve fireworks

The Sydney New Years Eve 2020 fireworks will go ahead with firefighters and health workers given priority access to limited public viewing areas.

“Key areas of the harbour will be reserved for frontline workers only,” NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Monday. 

All other Sydney New Years Eve vantage points will be fenced off to avoid large crowds congregating.

The NSW government is still finalising the exact details of the night.

But we do know the 9pm fireworks show has been cancelled. The midnight fireworks are still on, with limited access.

The government said Sydney NYE events can go ahead with restricted numbers.

“2020 has been a tough year for everyone,” Berejiklian said.

“The Sydney New Year’s Eve celebrations will be a symbol of hope and optimism for next year.”

“It is also an opportunity to thank people across NSW who have stepped up during this difficult time.”

Sydney New Years Eve vantage Points

The Opera House forecourt, Circular Quay and Mrs Macquarie’s Point are among the best spots for viewing the Sydney New Years Eve fireworks display. 

But if you can’t get a ticket, you could consider booking a hotel room at one of the many hotels with views over Sydney Harbour.

Some of the best hotels for viewing include the Four Seasons, the Shangri-La and the Park Hyatt Sydney.
