The best tiny homes in NSW for a weekend away

The tiny home holiday trend is booming with plenty of operators to choose from. There’s Into The Wild Escapes, Unyoked and Tiny Away to name a few, plus countless holiday parks are adding tiny home accommodation options for a unique family holiday. We’ve rounded up the best family friendly tiny homes so it’s never been easier to find a tiny home in NSW for your next getaway.

Into The Wild Escapes

Into The Wild Escapes have beautiful tiny homes within driving distance from major cities, some sleeping up to eight guests. These tiny homes allow you to experience the healing benefits of nature. There are an array of tiny homes to choose from, including two family-built tiny homes, complete with swing sets and bunk beds – Tiny Oscar in Robertson and Tiny Thomas in Upper Colo.

These tiny homes include all the comforts you need, and everything you don’t. Think a mini fridge, pots & pans, BBQ, eco-friendly cleaning products, French linen and a gorgeous picnic rug. So, you can just focus on bringing the kids and rewilding in nature.

Unyoked

Environmental warriors and twin brothers Cam and Chris Grant have 88 eco-friendly cabins across NSW, QLD, SA, WA and Victoria, as well as Tiny Homes in NZ and the UK. Nature-loving visitors can experience minimalist stays in the wilderness. NSW has Unyoked cabins near Sydney, Byron Bay and the Hunter Valley. They are hidden in secluded locations from lush valleys to wine country.

Kindled

This thoughtfully designed tiny house sleeps up to four and sits in the Oberon Shire around three hours out of Sydney. Set on 100 hectares beside pristine gum tree conservation and the river, it’s likely you’ll spot kangaroos, wombats and plenty of birdlife. The well-equipped dwelling has modern comforts such as a Koala mattress, air conditioning, soft linen and rain shower. The tiny home sleeps three with one queen loft bed, one double lower bed, children must be aged three or above.

NRMA Jindabyne Holiday Park

A cross between a tiny home and a glamping tent are NRMA’s popular glamtainers, available at its Ocean Beach and Jindabyne parks. These converted shipping containers have everything you’d expect from a stylish cabin or glamping tent but in a fun, compact design. The Jindabyne glamtainers have partial views of Lake Jindabyne and distant mountains, and each features a queen bed, two king single beds in a small second room, a dinette, a kitchenette with stove top, and a surprisingly roomy ensuite. There is also a large timber deck with a table and barbecue, sure to tempt you outdoors for dinner. The price varies largely between seasons; upwards of around $190 per night (four people) in February.

6Sixteen The Banks by Tiny Away

Tiny Away partners with land hosts and places beautifully designed, eco-friendly homes on wheels in spectacular rural settings, surrounded by nature. 6Sixteen The Bank is a tiny home with a big personality, the styling here is spot on and there are lots of windows to let the rural views in. Located on a farm in Agnes Banks in Greater Western Sydney, 6Sixteen is not far from the beautiful cafes of Windsor, Kurrajong village and Glenbrook. With a plush loft bedroom and comfy pull-out sofa bed, there’s enough room for a family of four and lovely open spaces to soak up the views of horse studs, lagoon and turf farms, with a backdrop of the Blue Mountains.

The Saddle Camp by Tiny Away

Perfect for horse-mad kids, The Saddle Camp tiny home is located on a horse riding farm in Braidwood, approximately four hours from Sydney. Saddle up for a trail ride or simply explore the open meadows and watch the playful ponies. The house is stylishly decked out in grey and white with lots of natural wood, plus a compact but well-equipped kitchen and comfortable loft bed. As an added bonus, there’s an on-site cafe with espresso and treats.
