One mountain and two of New Zealand’s largest ski areas make Mount Ruapehu a hot ski destination.
Whakapapa is accessed via the northern side of Mt Ruapehu. It is the largest resort in NZ and offers a range of terrain, from the beginner-friendly slopes of Happy Valley to wide open runs, bowls, bumps and drops for more advanced skiers.
Tūroa’s on the southern side, is renowned among intermediate and advanced skiers for its natural bowls, kickers and wide, open slopes. Best of all, its 700 meters of vertical provides long, thigh-burning four-kilometre runs.
