Snowflakes, frost trees and incredible powder snow greets Aleney de Winter and her son at Tomamu in Japan.
Enchanted by the flurry of snowflakes that greets us at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU, my nine-year-old son launches himself straight into the pillowy powder snow. He emerges moments later covered in a layer of sparkling white frosting. “This place is amazing!” he squeals, a large grin splitting his face. We haven’t even made it through the door yet.
But he’s right. Offering a classic Japanese-style resort experience in an uncrowded but idyllic location on the Hokkaido Powder Belt, TOMAMU is a Hoshino Resorts ski-in, ski-out veritable paradise for families, with so much more in store than perfect Japan pow (though there’s no shortage of that).
We too stayed at Hoshino Resort at Tomamu last winter. It was tremendous, and we are keen to go back at our first opportunity. Our kids were 14 and 10 at the time, but I dont see kids being too young, or too old for this place. So much to do, so much snow.
