During the school holidays don’t miss the Fossil Hunters tour (suitable for kids aged 5-12 years). Little adventurers get kitted with caving helmets and headlamps before braving the Lucas Cave in an interactive experience. They will learn about fossils and all things caves, with hands-on experiments and a treasure hunt. Kids leave with a little something to take home! All guides hold a Working with Children Check, Mum or Dad can either join in or relax at the café, for some kid-free time, knowing your little ones are in safe hands. Fossil Hunter tours are available in January on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
For the older kids (including mum and dad), the Plughole adventure cave is a unique challenge where you abseil, squeeze, crawl and climb through a cave. No experience is needed as we guide you every step of the way, but if tight spaces aren’t your thing, we have plenty of other activities available. Pop into the café to grab some light lunch in between exploring. Enjoy your meal inside on a hot day or out on the terrace to take in the views and sounds around the precinct. If you are staying the night, dinner is in the beautiful heritage-listed Caves House grand dining room, Chisholm’s Restaurant.

Access to Jenolan Caves has changed but you can still visit. Access is via Edith Rd only (on Jenolan Caves Rd, there is a 30-minute detour to Edith Rd via Duckmaloi Rd). 3km before Jenolan, there is a Transport for NSW traffic escort vehicle (running approximately every 20 minutes) which will take you to one of the free car parks.
