Australians may have to wait a while to experience the new Disneyland California Avengers Campus. But that wait will be worth it.
Disneyland California Avengers Campus features the incredible new Web Slingers: A Spiderman Adventure Ride which has been touted as the “future of theme park technology”.
The ride allows visitors to sling spiderwebs at the characters, fully immersing themselves in the action.
Disneyland Avengers Campus also features Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout. This ride was previously the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror before Disney gave it a makeover in 2017.
If you’ve ever wanted to be Spiderman or Iron Man, you will love this ride.
Inside you’ll meet Peter Parker and a group of young geniuses who are attempting to create new technology for the next generation of superheroes.
Peter shows off his new web-slinger vehicle and technology that allows regular people to sling webs like Spiderman. The geniuses also created some adorable little spider bots, which get out of control and rampant through the Avengers campus.
Riders must help Spiderman clean up the mess by slinging webs at the spider bots to get them under control.
“It’s magic, the first time all of us did it and we took out our hands and we saw webs go into this environment we were immersed in this story,” Walt Disney Imagineering portfolio creative executive Scot Drake told the Disney D3 blog.

The ride uses gesture recognition technology and 3D imaging to create the rampaging spiders in a virtual background. A dashboard tallies each rider’s score so you can compete with your family and friends.
If you’re really keen you can purchase a web shooter for $US25. Strap it to your wrist when you ride Web Slingers and it will improve your shooting accuracy.
If you’re an Iron Man fan, you can change the spider webs to Iron man repulsors.
Like many Disneyland rides, Web Slingers: A Spiderman Adventure has dozens of ride combinations. each time you ride it, it will be different.
Disney Imagineers also hid quite a few easter eggs in the ride. Keep a lookout for the Miles graffiti, a reference to Miles Morales.
Families can expect to see Spiderman, Doctor Strange, Iron-man and Wakandan warriors perform stunts through the Disney Avengers campus.
The special effects in this place need to be seen to be believed.
“It’s a ton of technology,” Brent Strong, executive creative director for Walt Disney Imagineering told the LA Times. “It’s a lot of computers.”
Disney has completely transformed the former Twighlight Zone hotel into a Guardians of the Galaxy collector’s fortress.
Inside Taneleer Tivan a.k.a. the Collector hordes fantastic fauna, relics and flora from across the galaxy. Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Drax and Groot are held captive in electrified glass cases that dangle perilously over an abyss.
Riders must embark on a harrowing mission to rescue the Guardians of the Galaxy from the Collector’s clutches.
Expect three thrilling free-drop falls before you can exit.
Disneyland Avengers campus is at Disney California Adventure Park, one of two Disney theme parks in Anaheim California.
Disney is currently building a second Avengers Campus at Disneyland Paris.
Australians visiting Disneyland California can fly into Los Angeles Airport and catch the Disney Magical Express bus direct to the park.
