After 2021, we all need a break. Easter 2022 provides the best chance to maximise your holidays while minimising your annual leave.
Every few years, Easter falls close to Anzac Day. It’s a rare opportunity to take off the days in between the two dates and make the most of the public holidays.
Easter Sunday falls on April 17 2022.
Anzac Day is on April 25, one week and one day later.
When you take a look at the public holiday dates, you’ll find that you can take four days annual leave and get 11 days off. If you’re lucky enough to live in Tasmania, you also get Easter Tuesday as a public holiday. That means you can take three days of annual leave to get 11 days of holiday.

Most states have scheduled school holidays over this annual leave hack period with students returning to class on April 27.
Weirdly, Queensland and the Northern Territory have chosen to send students back to the classroom on April 19. That means you will need to pull the kids out of school to maximise your annual leave.
Generally, people cotton onto this Easter annual leave hack fairly fast. So you will want to book accommodation early. That’s especially true this year as families are desperate to get away after lockdowns in several states.
Hopefully, Queensland and WA will have opened up their borders to the rest of the nation by then.
