ABSOLUTELY AWESOME: World’s biggest Legoland will open in 2024

Construction has begun on Legoland Shenzhen Resort, the largest Legoland in the world. 

Operated by Merlin Entertainments, the incredible $1.08bn resort is expected to open in 2024.

It will include a theme park, a water park and three Legoland hotels.

What we know about Legoland Shenzhen

Merlin is building the 580,000 square meter park on the Dapeng Peninsula, on the eastern edge of Shenzhen. 

The theme park will include nine themed areas with more than 100 interactive rides, shows and attractions. Guest can expect rides and attractions that have never been seen before.

“While maintaining the authentic Legoland experience, there will be innovative designs, new themed areas, rides and immersive shows launched for the China market,” Siegfried Boerst, General Manager of Legoland Shenzhen said.

Legoland Shenzhen Resort will integrate the history, culture and ecology of Shenzhen and China. The park will also be a smart park, celebrating technological innovation, imagination and creativity in Shenzhen.

The Resort will feature the world’s largest Legoland theatre with more than 1000 seats. Kids book into creative robot workshops, the popular Driving School and Rescue Academy.”

Like all Legoland theme parks, Shenzhen will have Miniland, an area of incredible Lego constructions. But in China, Miniland will be indoors – because Shenzhen gets really hot. Merlin said Miniland will include “high-tech digital interactive experiences”, which is different to many Legoland’s around the world.

Legoland Shenzhen will be best for children aged up to 12 – but really, who doesn’t love Lego? And they did say that the attractions will “let children and adults play, ride, climb, build, and learn together.”

What about the hotels?

If you’ve ever stayed in a Legoland hotel before, you know that can be half the fun. The themed hotels have giant pits of Lego in the foyer, disco elevators and Lego accessories in every room.

Legoland Shenzhen will have three Legoland hotels to choose from, with more than 1000 rooms. 

But wait… there’s more

Legoland Shenzhen will also boast the world’s biggest Legoland waterpark. We don’t know much about it at the moment, but we’re sure it will contain waterslides, a lazy river and Lego blocks, like Legoland Malaysia.
