This blissful sunflower hotel is like a beautiful daydream

A stunning pop-up sunflower hotel has opened in Britain and we really hope they will make it an annual event.

The world’s first sunflower hotel is a partnership between Interflora and UK luxury holiday hideaway business, Kip & Nook.

Golden sunflowers run floor to ceiling across the converted shipping container which sits in the rolling fields of North Yorkshire. 

The blooms are real, so it can’t last forever.

What is inside?

The interior is sunflower themed, with golden flowers wrapped around the lights and bright yellow blankets draped over cool grey lounges. 

The sunflower hotel has a full kitchen, and a lounge area with a wood-burning stove to keep things cosy on chilly nights.

The bedroom with ensuite features a sumptuous king-size bed under a skylight so you can stare at the stars..

One use only..

Sadly, given that blooms fade, the hotel will be one use only. To stay at the sunflower hotel you will need to win the UK competition. 

We really hope they will consider doing something like this in Australia. Or perhaps bringing it back next year, when we can all travel again.

Where to see sunflowers in Australia

Australians may not be able to get to the sunflower hotel, but we can still do a sunflower road trip.

In Queensland, head to Cambooya, Nobby, Toowoomba, Warwick or Allora for the best fields of blooms. In NSW try the Liverpool plains. Closer to Sydney, you should check out the  Central Coast Sunflower Harvest which happens around April to June each year. You can pick as many sunflowers as you can carry for $1 per sunflower. 

Yarramalong Turf Supplies runs the sunflower harvest every year. It is normally open to the public. But during COVID, you will need to book to ensure social distancing.
