This new travel money tool makes holiday budgeting a breeze

Whether managing your kids’ spending allowance or travelling with extended family, this tool will make life easier for everyone.  

Managing money on holidays just got easier for Australian families, with Wise unveiling a suite of new features designed to reduce the stress of spending overseas. New research from Wise shows that travel money anxiety is common, with 67% of Australians saying they felt financial stress on their most recent overseas trip. The pressure is even higher for parents, with 75% reporting spending worries when travelling with children. 

Money tools for families on holiday

With this in mind, Wise has launched a new in-app feature, Travel Hub, designed to simplify international spending. When families use their Wise card overseas, they can collect a digital “passport stamp” in the app. Tapping it reveals destination-specific tips, including how to find low-fee ATMs, use public transport, understand exchange rates and decide when to use cash or card. There’s also other new tools for parents, designed to make travelling with children easier and more transparent. 

Wise is rolling out Wise Cards for Young Explorers, allowing parents to issue physical cards to children aged 6 to 17 years old, or digital cards from age 13. Kids can use the cards online, in-store and at ATMs, while parents retain full control over funding and spending limits. Parents can also monitor activity in real time. 

Are you travelling with extended family?  

A new Group Spending feature lets travellers create a shared balance with up to nine other Wise users. Ideal for shared meals, transport and activities, it allows each person to spend from a linked virtual card while the group tracks expenses in one place. 

The Bill Split tool helps travellers divide expenses easily after payment. Users can pay with their Wise card, split the bill in the app across multiple people and request repayments in their chosen currency, reducing confusion when travelling in groups. 

Finally, Wise has added PayID support, allowing users to link a mobile number or email to their Wise account. This enables fast, simple transfers from Australian bank accounts without needing to share BSB or account numbers. 

Together, the updates aim to make managing money abroad more straightforward for families, reducing the juggling act that often comes with travelling overseas.
