Consumer Affairs Victoria has received 17 reports of caravan scams since October, up from just two reports in 2019.
The scammers advertise caravans online or on social media, using the excuse of coronavirus lockdowns or restrictions to get people to pay without seeing the caravan.
Victims said they had paid money into the scammers’ bank account with the promise the caravan would be delivered to them.
But the caravan never came.
