‘Dread and Breakfast’: Creepy hotel promises a terrible sleep

A new London pop-up hotel aptly named Dread and Breakfasts promises to keep guests awake all night long with blood-curdling screams, random knocking and unexpected visitors. 

Built an old, abandoned London building, Dread and Breakfast sounds like the stuff of nightmares. 

And that’s the point. Rum brand the Kraken built the hotel experience for Halloween and it will open for just a few days to terrify guests. 

“The story goes that it is infested with the restless and malevolent souls of mariners that survived an ocean encounter with the Kraken itself,” the Kraken said in a press release.

Once back on dry land the cursed sailors turned evil and were sent to the hotel to be locked up forever.

The Dread and Breakfast experience starts at 7pm on Thursday 28 with 150 guests invited to visit the bar and tour the dilapidated “hotel for the damned”.

“Those ghost-hunting visitors deemed to have what it takes to brave prolonged encounters with poltergeists will be invited to spend the night at the hotel – so all visitors are advised to bring along an overnight bag, should they be selected.”

Those chosen to spend a night at the immersive ‘D&B can expect to “endure a night of sustained terror and sleeplessness”.

The freaky experience

“From 28th until 30th October, guests will be deliberately kept awake through a host of horror tactics, such as crank phone calls, banging on the walls, blood-curdling screams and even uninvited visitors entering their rooms in the early hours,” the hotel said.

And they won’t even get a sleep-in to recover. The Dread and Breakfast has a 9am early check out.

The pop-up hotel trend

Dread and Breakfast is the latest in a series of pop up hotels that have sold out across the British capital.

Others include a hotel dedicated to KFC, a sunflower bed and breakfast and a quirky Christmas hotel.
