Calling all Sanrio lovers! The Hello Kitty and Friends Café is bringing a whole new level of kawaii to Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.
Get ready to say hello to happiness, Gold Coast! The Hello Kitty and Friends Café has officially opened at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, bringing a world of kawaii (that’s Japanese for “cute”) to Queensland for the very first time.

After charming Melbourne earlier this year, the much-loved café has finally made its way north, and it’s everything fans dreamed of and more. Step inside and you’ll find a multi-sensory experience across three uniquely themed spaces, each designed to surprise, delight and make you reach for your camera.

From the pastel-perfect décor to the playful Japanese-inspired menu, every detail of the café is joyful. Families can tuck into strawberry sandos, poke bowls and themed bento boxes, or swing by the Hello Kitty Corner for takeaway coffee and freshly baked Japanese patisseries.

Step inside Cinnamoroll World
A highlight of the café is Cinnamoroll World, a dreamy, fully immersive space celebrating one of Sanrio’s most loved characters. From ceiling art to custom tableware, it’s a magical setting that feels straight out of a storybook. Perfect for family outings, catch-ups with friends, or a dose of pure nostalgia, this space is guaranteed to make hearts flutter.

Hello Kitty and Friends café inspired by the Gold Coast
The fun doesn’t stop at the food. The café’s exclusive retail store is packed with limited-edition treasures, from caps, tees and sweats to keyrings, plush toys and embroidered patches. Each piece has been created by an award-winning team of Australian creatives, led by art director Eddie Zammit and illustrator Travis Price, blending Sanrio’s signature sweetness with the sun-kissed spirit of the Gold Coast. Don’t miss the Friends Garden, where custom illustrations pay tribute to Hello Kitty’s adorable companions in a vibrant coastal twist.

Everything you need to know about the Hello Kitty and Friends Café in Melbourne
The first Australian Hello Kitty and Friends Café opened in Melbourne showcasing a whimsical world where Sanrio’s most iconic characters, including Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi and My Melody, are brought to life across four themed zones: the dreamy Cinnamoroll World, the playful Friends Garden, the classic Hello Kitty Corner, and a sweet little gift shop filled with limited-edition merchandise exclusive to Australia. The dreamy pink and pastel-hued interiors were designed by a team of Aussie creatives, including Eddie Zammit, who helped bring Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary pop-up to Chadstone in 2024.
The Melbourne menu is similar to the Gold Coast. Think strawberry sandwiches, bento boxes, poke bowls, rosé pasta, soba salads and picture-perfect pastries and sweet treats. Sip on signature drinks, such as the My Melody Ice Strawberry, Pom Pom Brûlée Milk Tea or the Keroppi Kreme Matcha.
This outpost also has an exclusive Hello Kitty gift shop, stocked with collectible tees, greeting cards, keyrings and more, all of which are exclusive to the store. From its vibrant pink bows to its nostalgic nods to Sanrio history (Did you know Hello Kitty was created by Yuko Shimizu in 1974?), this cafe is the perfect place to while away a winter afternoon in Melbourne.
